In April, we launched Negotiation, a public program of the Center for Social Vision taking place at Swimming Pool. The first module of the program focused on how we think and do the social. On 14 May, we launch the second module called "A Common Vision for the City". Once again, we invite you to a panel discussion with professionals from different fields about how we negotiate the right to the city with each other and with the institutions that represent us, and how art, architecture, design, and literature participate in this process. To deepen the discussion, we invite you to two lectures beforehand: by architect and researcher Ivan Bonev, on the de-institutionalization of social and spatial practices as one of the most sincere ways to express shared values in the contemporary city, as well as a lecture by artist Curdin Tones, who explores participatory practices that are not conditioned to be consensual, but quite the opposite: Tones draws attention to the antagonistic nature of the democratic process and the need for art to allow for and make sense of conflicting constellations.

Two projects by participants in the Center for Social Vision will give depth to these debates through interventions in urban environments. On 15 May, Andrea Popyordanova invites you to a walk and a conversation in Sofia’s Mladost district where she will present her research “The Orchards of Sofia”, with a focus on the neighborhood. At Swimming Pool, you can see an installation in progress accompanying Andrea's project, which presents an archive of materials, sketches, and maps that emerged around the study.

Dessislava Terzieva will present Prima Materia World at various locations around the city as an interdisciplinary laboratory, making use of clothing from the immediate environment – garments from flea markets, second-hand shops, donations, and engaging a wide audience through unobtrusive spatial installations.

The public program at the space of Swimming Pool takes place within the environment of words "With You", created by writer and playwright Stefan Ivanov and artist Rosie Eisor. It includes textile works and a poetic research essay by Stefan Ivanov on how we communicate, which can be seen, heard or read in the space.

At Swimming Pool, you can also access the library of the Center for Social Vision. Please contact us if you are interested in borrowing any of the publications.
