Swimming Pool’s very first catalogue is dedicated to the project “The Possible Institution”, realized by Swimming Pool in the first half of 2021.

Since Swimming Pool’s founding, the program of the space has been strongly focused on research on institution-making. The large-scale project “The Possible Institution” was initiated in 2020/21, curated by Viktoria Draganova and with the participation of Ina Valentinova, Yasen Vasilev, Lubomir Draganov, Stefan Ivanov, Maria Nalbantova, Martin Penev, Radostin Sedevchev, Galena Sardamova (assistant), and Miryana Todorova. The project was designed as a process that began with a series of meetings and continued as an exhibition and public action accompanied by performances, discussions, essays, and workshops. The aim of this particular project was to perceive our relations with different institutions, as well as the concepts we operate with – and in that way, we could also recognize new meanings and directions of instituting.

The catalogue is an archive of the project, but also its continuation. It contains texts and materials by the participants, and includes essays by Ani Vaseva, Dessislava Dimova, Vladiya Mihaylova, and Viktoria Draganova, adding to the perspective of the artist that of the curator, the theatre director, the theorist. The space of the catalogue was carefully constructed by Martin Atanasov, offering a new interpretation of Swimming Pool’s current visual identity.
